The Boeing 737-800 falls under the category of Boeing's 737 Next Generation aircraft, abbreviated 737NG, and was launched as the third-generation derivative of the 737 Classic. Substantially redesigned with numerous updates to the 737 Classic, the 737NGs primary competitor is the Airbus A320 series.
